$4 Million In Goods Seized During Massive Local Undercover Police Investigation

It was a massive series of raids spanning two provinces and bringing in millions of dollars in seized goods. Local law enforcement agencies have released more information about Project Cinderford, which was an 18-month undercover investigation. The operation targeted trafficking of controlled substances, contraband and weapons in our area. At a news conference this morning in Long Sault, police told reporters that over the past two days they executed 20 search warrants in Cornwall, SD&G, Akwesasne, Ottawa and Montreal. Thirty people were arrested for drug-related offences and warrants are out for eight more. O.P.P. Commissioner Chris Lewis says there is links to organized crime. (Play Audio) The items seized are a dozen firearms including two AK-47 assault rifles, thousands of rounds of ammunition, marijuana, cocaine, oxycodone, Ecstasy, contraband tobacco, vehicles, personal watercraft, a motorcycle, snowmobile, bullet proof vests and $36,000 in cash. Police say the drugs and cigarettes alone are worth more than $4 million. Cornwall Police Chief Dan Parkinson says no officers or any member of the public was hurt during this operation.
