One hardly knows whether to laugh or cry at the gushing comments of our MP, Phil McColeman, relating to Prime Minister Stephen Harper's Cabinet shuffle.
Mr. McColeman has still not commented on why Helena Guergis was kicked out of cabinet and the Conservative caucus. She did nothing wrong and her expulsion has never been explained.
Our MP is a true unthinking disciple of Stephen Harper. But his ringing endorsement of Julian Fantino as minister of state for seniors is beyond comical. Fantino has not yet earned his pay as a Tory MP and is already promoted to cabinet. Another month on the job and he may take a run at the PM's job. This is the same Julian Fantino who allowed lawlessness to reign in Caledonia, and turned a blind eye to assaults, wanton property destruction and daily mayhem.
The same Julian Fantino who collects from the taxpayer separate pensions as a former member of the Toronto police, former chief of the London police and former commissioner of the OPP. This guy, collecting three handsome pensions from taxpayers, is not going to understand the day-to-day struggles of seniors, without healthy pensions, who cannot pay their energy and other bills.
Oh, well, maybe I'm just jealous.
Mr. Harper does want to win seats near Toronto so wealthy Julian Fantino has had his wealth added to by a full Cabinet salary.
I know Fantino and Harper are on Mr. McColeman's Valentine's card list but many of us wish our MP would start doing his own thinking.
