Task force makes 12 seizures

Between Oct. 21 and Nov. 9, the Cornwall Regional Task Force made 12 seizures of cont raband tobacco and arrested nine people.

Five of the seizures were made in Cornwall, one at the border crossing, four in South Glengarry, one in South Stormont and one in South Dundas.

Two Cornwall residents, 37-year-old Jason Durnion and 23-year-old Alexander George, were charged with possession of a tobacco product not properly stamped.

George was also charged with failure to comply with undertaking, driving while disqualified, possession of property obtained by crime, and operation of motor vehicle while being pursued by police.

The task force also seized eight vehicles and two boats. They collected $1,230 in Canadian cash, 27 grams of mari juana, 14 kilograms of tobacco, three kilograms of chewless tobacco.

Police found 11,788 bags and cartons.

The task force was working with the Canada Border Service Agency, Cornwall police and the OPP during the investigations.
