Just shy of four years since land disputes in Caledonia climaxed, our local MPP want residents and businesses to know what they're spending on the whole ordeal. In MPP Toby Barrett's latest column, he quotes the price tag of the dispute at the former Douglas Creek Estates at 4.1 million dollars in lost economic activity from Brantford to Dunnville. Barrett says this doesn't include lost property values for anyone living near DCE, with an estimated 15-40 per cent drop. He says through a recent report, he's learned policing costs have been under reported and could be as high as 200 million. Barrett says many developments within Haldimand have been halted because of these disputes, so what could the true costs really add up to?
