Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett is speaking out against the decision not to appoint an out-of-province Crown Attorney in the case against OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino of influencing municipal official in Haldimand County. The case was thrown out of Provincial Court in Cayuga on Wednesday. Barrett says an outside crown attorney should have been called in as we saw in the Michael Bryant case. The absence of one, he adds, leaves the perception of conflict of interest and the people of Ontario deserve an explanation. Caledonia Activist Gary McHale accused Fantino of sending an email in 2007 telling the mayor and councillors in Caledonia not to attend McHale's rallies.
