Caledonia business owners, contractors and residents are preparing a class-action lawsuit against the province for their handling of native land occupations in the area. The potential 970 plaintiffs want compensation for losses businesses suffered during the three years of the occupation, while others want money for general nuisance. One plaintiff says the recent news that Dana Chatwell and Dave Brown settled their $7 million suit with the province out of court gives a glimmer of hope to residents. The suit is awaiting certification by the courts.
