Haldimand County Council is looking to be proactive when it comes to the purchase of illegal cigarettes from aboriginal shacks. Council has written to Revenue Canada asking for cash so they can put up signs explaining the kinds of fines shoppers face if they get caught buying contraband smokes. Councillor Lorne Boyko says the signs will be much like the speeding signs, and he says Haldimand tax payers shouldn't be expected to foot the bill.
