OPP EXECUTE ARREST WARRANT

(Caledonia, ON)   On July 7, 2009, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Haldimand County Detachment, acting as an agent for the property owner, attended a smoke shop located on private property adjacent to Highway 6.

While OPP officers were on site to address the issue of trespassing, they were confronted by a number of persons.  For public safety reasons, OPP officers did not pursue the issue at that time and initiated an investigation. As a result, an arrest warrant was issued for one male. 

On July 9, 2009, OPP officers attended the property to execute the arrest warrant and as a result, several charges were laid:

Stephen Scott Powless Sr, age 43, of Ohsweken was arrested on warrant and charged with Mischief to Property, Resist Arrest and Fail to Comply with Bail Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code and is being held to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on July 10, 2009. 

Steven Powless Jr, age 23, of Ohsweken, was arrested and charged with Resist Arrest, Assault Police with intent to Resist Arrest and Mischief to Property contrary to the Criminal Code and will appear in court on August 19, 2009.

Greg Powless, age 19, of Ohsweken, was arrested for, Mischief to Property, Resist Arrest and Fail to Comply with Bail Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code and is being held to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on July 10, 2009.

A young female, age 16, of Ohsweken, was arrested and charged with Trespassing under the Trespass to Property Act.

Haldimand County OPP is continuing to investigate.
