TO THE EDITOR:
My father, several uncles and a cousin enlisted and served in WWII. Most came home. Another uncle was a police officer, and one a police chief. As a younger person I knew that I was safe living here in Canada and that if a bad guy tried to harm me I would be protected.
It breaks my heart that this is no longer the case. When Ipperwash occurred it was a terrible thing, but to me it was far away and when media coverage of it faded, I forgot about it. But the injustices are still going on in Ipperwash as they are in Caledonia -right now! And they will continue to spread if our policing remains status quo. I have seen the devastating impact this is having on perfectly innocent people.
Gary McHale is a regular guy, willing to stand up for our rights no matter what. He is currently facing Julian Fantino in court to prove that race-based policing is being practised in Ontario. If Mr. McHale is successful, our police will be allowed to serve and protect us all, which I believe is the reason that each chose his or her career.
