Caledonia Activist Gary McHale will return to court today. OPP charged McHale with counselling mischief after the Dec. 1st protest over a native-run smoke shop that turned violent. In his court appearance yesterday McHale argued a lack of police enforcement in Caledonia has allowed some natives to get away with criminal behavior. Haldimand Mayor Marie Trainer took the stand yesterday and admitted that she percieved an email she recieved in April of 2007 from OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino as a threat. In the e-mail Fantino critized a councillor's apparent suppor of McHale and threatened to pull out officers when the county's contract expired. McHale wants to use the email to prove that the OPP are abusing their power . OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino is expected to take the witness stand in court today.
