Buckle in for a long ride

Letter by Larry McKay - The Regional

The federal election results last Tuesday for Haldimand is reassurance that Mr. Harper and the Conservatives are not concerned about what is going on in our town, and was probably laughing at the fact Diane Finley was re-elected.

He is not about to ruffle the feathers of a nation of natives over a piece of provincially owned undeveloped dirt in small Town Caledonia known as the DCE. He knows the small percentage of voters of which some would obviously stay with their allegiance and vote Conservative would not hurt his Party, so why even attempt to resolve the situation? The fact that there are surrounding communities in the riding that are not affected by the occupation saved this riding for the Conservatives and they knew that would be the case.

Bottom line is residents of Caledonia should buckle up and get ready for the ride because this circus act is probably going to outlast you and I.
