Six Nations has rejected a federal offer to settle a Dunnville land claim for $26 million.

He said that any settlement must be more than monetary. He said the Six Nations Confederacy council and community have made it clear that any resolution must include land as well as money.
MacNaughton says the confederacy also disputes the $26 million figure. He said it’s not clear how that was arrived at. MacNaughton added that other estimates of the value of the 2,500 acres flooded in 1829 to make way for the canal range from $500 million to $1 billion.
