A Six Nations man who was charged with mischief and breach of a court order on Monday has been released.
Steve Powless, 43, of Ohsweken, was released on bail Tuesday.
As part of his bail conditions, he was told to stay at least 1,500 metres from several development sites in Brantford, including Kingspan Insulation Inc. and Hampton Inn, both located in the city's northwest business park.
He must also stay the same distance away from the First Gulf Development project at Henry Street and Wayne Gretzky Parkway and a construction site at Erie Avenue and Birkett Lane.
The only exception to the conditions allows Powless to travel on Highway 403.
He is due to return to court on Sept. 25.
Powless has been associated with protests and occupations at Fen Ridge Court where the Hampton Inn is under construction and Kingspan is building its North American headquarters.
He was arrested at 7 a. m. Monday at an undisclosed site in connection with incidents that occurred at the Fen Ridge Court sites last week.
Fen Ridge Court and the Oak Park Road area are among development spots designated in a court injunction won by the city, which bans protests that obstruct construction work.
Powless's arrest prompted a group of native activists to block the Highway 6 Caledonia bypass for a few hours Monday afternoon.
