Argyle Street South in Caledonia remains closed by residents in response to earlier native blockades. About 125 residents are currently gathered on the street and are stopping traffic.
Around 9 a.m. today Six Nations erected two blockades, one on Argyle Street and another on the Highway 6 bypass. OPP declared Argyle Street open around 1:20 p.m., but citizens refused to leave.
One young man has apparently been arrested after allegedly ripping a native flag from the car antenna of a vehicle trying to get past the residents. OPP officers remain on the road.
Six Nations say this morning’s actions were prompted by the arrest of some Six Nations people in Brantford.
