Aboriginal protesters are clearing a blockade of Highway Six in Caledonia, hours after the barrier was set up.
A group of native protesters dragged a hydro tower across the highway early Monday morning in response to the arrest of three men from the nearby Six Nations reserve outside Brantford.
The tower was removed later in the day after negotiations between band council members and provincial police, said Ontario Provincial Police Const. Paula Wright.
Authorities inspected the road before allowing it to be reopened. Traffic was rerouted in the area.
Caledonia has seen many native land claims protests in recent years. The Six Nations claims land on both sides of the Grand River, from its source to its mouth on Lake Erie.
