Police are praising a citizen for helping them in their battle to stop people throwing debris off bridges onto cars on the Highway 6 bypass.

Someone called Ontario Provincial Police late Monday night after seeing children throwing stones from the 6th Line overpass. Six Nations Police responded and found the children nearby. Charges could not be laid because the kids were under 12, but they were warned about their actions.

"I would like to commend this citizen for helping to prevent crime in the community," said Acting Inspector Michael Rigby. "The more eyes the better."

Police have had a spate of reports in recent weeks about debris being tossed from overpasses. They have appealed for the public's help and have urged the province and Haldimand County to remove trees and bushes so culprits can be seen better by motorists.
