Aboriginal Affairs funding for Caledonia celebrations

Craig Grice couldn't wait to announce the funding received from Ontario's Aboriginal Affairs. Apparently, Councillor Grice has a lot to learn about funding promises from governments. You never say you HAVE something from the government until the cheque has cleared!

As a member of Caledonia's Aboriginal community, I would like to make the following suggestion. Use the money to send everyone from the local newspapers to journalism school. That way, all the communities throughout the Grand River tract would benefit.

However, it is unlikely that the lessons would have any lasting effect. Since the local newspapers serve themselves before serving their readers, anything learned would soon be forgotten.

Whether the funding is spent on journalists or on the Canada Day celebrations, the money quickly disappears "up in smoke"!
