Police say for the first time in Brantford, a protest over land claims has turned violent.
A native protester is in police custody after punching an officer in the face.
Until Monday, the protest against construction on Fen Ridge Court has been peaceful.
But when police tried to stop a man who was blocking cement trucks from coming on the property, the protester threw a punch.
Police say another Six Nations protestor struck a different officer in the head, but he ran in to the bushes and got away.
Investigators are reviewing video tapes to identify the man who struck the officer and got away.
Construction crews left the site around noon.  It's not certain if they'll be back working on the site Tuesday.
