A month after being released from jail, Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Chief Donny Morris is speaking out again but this time he is looking for an apology from Ontario's premier, in person.

In the letter addressed to the premier, Morris calls for an official apology and wants Premier Dalton McGuinty to travel to his community immediately.

The letter goes on to explain what Morris feels is his people's unfair treatment by the province and the affect the jail sentences had on six band council members and the community. The six KI residents were sentenced to six months in jail in March after disobeying a court order to allow junior mining company Platinex to resume exploration activity near the community. The band members were released early following an appeal.

The letter was also sent to Minister of Northern Development and Mines, Michael Gravelle who said on Friday, it was difficult to comment on the letter but agrees that the Mining Act needs to be updated. Gravelle says the province is working at getting aboriginals more involved in mining claims and said Chief Morris ''was very direct in his comments and l am very keen to meet with him.''

The Premier's office confirmed that they received the letter and are reviewing the request.
