McGuinty Government Delivers On Community Safety

Brantford — Brant MPP Dave Levac announced today Brantford has received $106,943, as the
McGuinty government delivered on its commitment to fund additional police officers.

The funds represent the second installment for the 2007/08 fiscal year of the province’s share of
the annual salary costs for the 8 additional front-line police officers hired by the Brantford Police
Services.

“Community safety remains a key priority for the McGuinty government. I am pleased to
announce continued support for policing in Brantford as a part of our commitment to help fund
2,000 police officers in communities across Ontario,” said MPP Dave Levac.
The McGuinty government has committed $68 million in annual funding to help communities
pay the salary related costs of over 2,000 additional police officers across the province in

police officers and we continue to deliver on that commitment,” said Community Safety and
Correctional Services Minister Rick Bartolucci.

QUICK FACTS
§ Under the Safer Communities – 1,000 Officers Partnership Program, 500 officers were
allocated to community policing. The remaining 500 officers were allocated to six key priority
areas: youth crime, guns and gangs, organized crime, including marijuana grow operations,
dangerous offenders, domestic violence and protecting children from internet luring.

§ The 1,000 officers hired under the Community Policing Partnerships Program enhance
police visibility through increased community patrols, enhanced traffic enforcement, school
outreach programs and drug and street-crime enforcement.
