McGuinty government delivered on its commitment to fund additional police officers.
The funds represent the second installment for the 2007/08 fiscal year of the province’s share of
the annual salary costs for the 8 additional front-line police officers hired by the
Services.

QUICK FACTS
§ Under the Safer Communities – 1,000 Officers Partnership Program, 500 officers were
allocated to community policing. The remaining 500 officers were allocated to six key priority
areas: youth crime, guns and gangs, organized crime, including marijuana grow operations,
dangerous offenders, domestic violence and protecting children from internet luring.
§ The 1,000 officers hired under the Community Policing Partnerships Program enhance
police visibility through increased community patrols, enhanced traffic enforcement, school
outreach programs and drug and street-crime enforcement.
