McHale doesn't protest

Brantford Expositor
May 30, 2008

Protester Gary McHale was a no-show at rallies of natives and non-natives in Victoria Park on Friday over the city's attempt to get an injunction against protesters and others connected with disrupted work at construction sites.

City officials and police were bracing for the possibiity that McHale, of Caledonia protest fame, might bring an entourage to the park where others were holding a "peace rally" around the historic statue to Mohawk chief Joseph Brant, across the street from the Superior Court house, where the legal battle was being fought.

But McHale did not arrive.

One of his associates, Jeff Parkinson, was present, filming the proceedings, while police were filming him. Parkinson said McHale had no intention of coming and wondered how an erroneous rumour started.
