A number of additional criminal charges were laid Tuesday against native protesters in connection to road blockades and several violent confrontations with police last month.

And officers investigating the heated events during the week of April 21 vow further arrests and charges are imminent in the coming weeks.

This week's charges, according to a statement issued by provincial police, were laid Tuesday afternoon in connection with "events that occurred in and around Deseronto," between April 21 and 26.

On April 21, a group of native protesters set up blockades at various points in Deseronto, but removed themselves from the village the following day after the arrival of the OPP's Public Order Unit. On April 25, after the arrest of well-known protester Shawn Brant, a confrontation between provincial police and demonstrators erupted into violence along the road, which ended with two police officers sustaining injuries and four protesters charged criminally.

Here is a list of what each protester was initially charged with:

Matthew James Kunkel, 21: three counts of assaulting a police officer, two counts of assault with a weapon (brass knuckles), possession of a prohibited weapon, assault causing bodily harm, wearing a disguise with the intent to commit a criminal offense and resisting arrest.

Clint Brant, 29: dangerous driving, uttering death threats, mischief under $5,000, mischief; obstructing police and assaulting a police officer.

Daniel John Doreen, 34: mischief, obstructing police and assaulting a police officer.

Steve Chartrand, 32: mischief; obstructing police

Shawn Brant, 44: assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000, breach of recognizance, possession of a controlled substance and carrying weapons dangerous to the public peace.

Tuesday, police laid additional charges against Doreen for assault causing bodily harm; obstructing police and two counts of mischief for preventing the public for using a roadway.

Chartrand, meanwhile, was charged with three additional counts of mischief for preventing the public for using a roadway.

Charged with three counts of mischief for preventing the public from using a roadway is Jana Hill, 40, of no fixed address. And charged with two counts of mischief for preventing the public from using a roadway is Jacqueline Brant, 53.

Of all those charged, three remain in custody at the Quinte Regional Detention Centre: Clint Brant; Shawn Brant and Kunkel.
