Further Charges in Road Blockade

(Deseronto, ON) – Today, the Ontario Provincial Police laid further charges in relation to the events that occurred in and around Deseronto, Ontario between April 21 through April 26, 2008.

Due to the extensive and continuing investigation, the Napanee OPP Crime Unit have further charged the following people:

Charged are:

1) Daniel John DORENE, 34, with additional charges of unlawfully cause bodily harm, obstruct/resist police, and two counts of mischief – obstruct lawful use

2) Steve CHARTRAND, 32, with three additional counts of mischief – obstruct lawful use.

3) Jana HILL, 40, with three counts of mischief – obstruct lawful use

4) Jacqueline BRANT, 53, with two counts of mischief – obstruct lawful use

DORENE and CHARTRAND were issued summons at court today and remain in custody. HILL and BRANT were arrested on warrants and released with conditions. All are scheduled to appear on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 in Napanee court.

Further arrest warrants and charges are pending for additional persons.

“Our dedicated officers are continuing to work hard in protecting the citizens of this community,” said OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino. “We will continue to hold those responsible for criminal activity, accountable.”
