One man has been charged and several investigations are underway in the aftermath of Saturday's violent clash in Caledonia.

OPP Const. Paula Wright said a 36-year-old Caledonia man has been charged with obstructing police.

More than 100 people shouted and shoved each other during a clash between Caledonia residents and natives near the Douglas Creek Estates site on Saturday morning. It occurred after residents gathered to protest a smoke shack on Argyle Street.

Two men, including Gary McHale, a known activist from Richmond Hill, were injured in the confrontation. McHale was pulled out of the melee bleeding in the face. He suffered a black eye, bruised rib and head and foot injuries.
