Rally not anti-native

In response to the rant of Lorraine Bergstrand, the Liberal candidate for Haldimand-Norfolk. It was my understanding that a politician's duty was to unite constituents for the common good of the majority and betterment of all.

She undermines the work by the many citizens of Caledonia who work diligently to unite the people of our community. To name a few of these people Dave & Linda Hartless, the members of the Caledonia resistance, the R2R, the Fleming brothers, myself and the many others who soldier on despite the fact we've been abandoned and slandered, had roadblocks thrown at us by the very politicians we expect support and leadership from.

Bergstrand says she won't appear at the "anti-native" rally. Well neither would I but this is a rally to declare Caledonia and Six Nations aren't going to take the political waffling anymore. Bergstrand says, "The people of Caledonia should stay home and enjoy their Thanksgiving". Did the OPP write that statement for her or did she borrow it from Fantino??

Bergstrand says "McHale isn't from this area", however, the McHale family did reside in this area and Mr. McHale (senior) was gainfully employed at the GLA company now Georgia Pacific so put that "not from the area" to rest. Try uniting instead of dividing.

Lorraine here is a situation that's troubling and it has to do with the secret meeting the Alliance had with McGuinty and his Liberal party. The Liberals wanted to silence Mayor Trainer and the Alliance agreed to support you in the municipal election to overthrow Mayor Trainer because she wanted resolution to the standoff and obviously your leader couldn't deliver. Lorraine asked for financial support from same Alliance members who met with McGuinty to help her overthrow the Mayor.

In the summer of 2006, McGuinty was proud about the fact that his Government was in complete control of the situation in Caledonia and how it was going to be just months before his Government would resolve the whole occupation. We all remember McGuinty promising us that the occupiers would not stay the winter?

When Lorraine was running for Mayor she said she had no connection with the Liberal party or with McGuinty. A year later she is suddenly telling the public just how great McGuinty is. Amazing how quickly someone who claimed to have to connections can be accepted by the Liberal party to represent them.

Is there anyone in the Caledonia Alliance that will confirm this or will the corruption continue? My opinion is the card carrying Liberals will continue to carry on with character assassinations and undermining honourable and honest people for their own gains. Shameful!

Bergstrand states – The Ontario Liberal party supports a peaceful resolution of the land claim dispute between Six Nations and the Federal Government. The last I heard McGuinty bought the land and created the problem he is unable or unwilling to deal with, so please don't implicate the Feds on this one.

In closing, if this letter to the Editor is published the election well be over and hopefully the business community will have come to their senses and supported a cause that cries out for solidarity.

So to those that supported and attended the "Remember us rally" I thank you from the bottom of my heart and for those of you from the ostrich generation, I pity you.
