Arrests have been made in two violent incidents in Caledonia, the recent assault on Caledonia builder Sam Gualtieri and a 2006 incident in which a car was driven at a police officer.
Albert Douglas, 31, of Ohsweken, wanted for the attempted murder of a police officer in Caledonia in June 2006 was arrested in Morrisburg, Ont., Thursday for a traffic violation.
Douglas is charged with attempted murder, two counts of robbery, three of assault, forcible confinement, dangerous driving, failing to remain at a collision, causing bodily harm, and failure to comply with bail conditions.
On June 9, protesters at Douglas Creek Estates swarmed an unmarked U.S. Border Patrol vehicle and threw out three occupants, two OPP officers and a U.S. border agent.
Witnesses said the vehicle then drove at an OPP officer.
Police are still hunting for Frank Burning, 38 and another man on assault charges stemming from the same incident.
Also Thursday, a 15-year-old youth wanted in connection with the Sept. 13 assault on Gualtieri surrendered to the Cayuga OPP.
He’s charged with assault, break and enter and uttering threats.
Warrants are still outstanding for Richard Smoke, 18, for aggravated assault and break and enter, and Byron Powless, 18, for assault and break and enter.
Douglas and the youth are expected in Cayuga court at 9 a.m. Friday.
