HAGERSVILLE, Ont. – A Six Nations protest in Hagersville just south of the ongoing occupation in Caledonia appears to be winding down.
About two dozen protesters arrived at the site on Highway 6 at about 7 a.m. under the watchful eye of provincial police.
The development is for a townhouse complex for seniors, which until recently, was slated to become a new playground.
The developer has reportedly agreed to halt construction and return to the negotiating table with Six Nations officials.
The site is just 15 kilometres from Caledonia, where Six Nations protesters have been staging an occupation for more than a year.
Aboriginals groups have said there would be numerous protests this summer to support various land claims disputes.
