The organizer of several controversial rallies in Caledonia promises his website will be back up by tonight.
Gary McHale said he took down www.caledoniawakeupcall.com late Wednesday in part to show how needed and effective it was.
"The site going down is to remind people that it's a valuable tool."
McHale has organized a series of rallies in Caledonia to protest the way the native occupation of Douglas Creek Estates has been handled. McHale maintains the natives have been given preferential treatment by the OPP.
The Richmond Hill man has been widely criticized for becoming involved because he has no ties to Caledonia.
McHale says it's propaganda that the people living in Caledonia do not want outside help. A rally is being organized by town residents for mid-May and he has been asked to be a part of it, he said.
The new website will provide more information that will help people with their police complaints and lawsuits, as well as providing general updates. Six Nations protesters have occupied the site of the former housing development since February 2006. Negotiations to resolve the dispute are ongoing.
