TORONTO — Several aboriginal social agencies in Ontario are getting provincial funds to repair, renovate and upgrade their facilities.
Community and Social Services Minister Madeleine Meilleur says $760,000 is being allocated for the agencies, including seven which cater to people with disabilities.
The bulk of the funding, $640,450, will be provided for four Six Nations agencies in southern Ontario to provide improved services for the disabled.
Another 12 aboriginal community agencies that provide programs and services for women who are victims of domestic violence and their children will also receive funds. Those agencies are in Blind River, Hamilton, Moosonee, North Bay, Ohsweken and Thunder Bay.
