“Not very impressed.” Those were the words used by Confederacy Chief Allen McNaughton to describe a legal response submission by the federal government in answer to documents submitted by Six Nations in December.

Those very documents were hoped, would be the answer for Six Nations in helping to resolve the longstanding land dispute that has been taking its toll on those that live on both sides of the issue. Caledonians that want natives living on the former housing development in their backyard out and Six Nations residents that have been waiting hundreds of years for the government to do the right thing.

Although Jane Stewart said that she thought the meeting yesterday was a good one, McNaughton had little to say about the meeting citing a need for more time to pour through the legal response they were handed before the Confederacy could provide an objective opinion.

The talks to resolve the 11 month old reclamation occupation in Caledonia resume February 8.
