Letter to Diane Finley & PM Harper

December 2, 2006

Have you heard?  It is now against the law to raise the Canadian flag.

In Caledonia, there are more warrior flags flying than Canadian flags.  Along with these warrior flags are many unity flags and a Palestinian flag.  Some of the residents decided to raise the Canadian flag and support the troops at the same time.  Canadian flags were prepared with yellow ribbons attached to show everyone driving through our town that we are Canadian and we support our troops.  We have men dying for this flag.  We have lost thousands in wars defending this flag, but on Saturday, December 2, 2006, the Ontario Provincial Police declared it a crime to raise the flag.

The occupiers of DCE did not have a problem with the flags being put up.   THE POLICE WERE THE ONES WHO DECLARED IT ILLEGAL TO DO SO.  It was decided that raising the flag was disturbing the peace.

My main concern and main reason for writing is the Police State that exists in Caledonia.  It is time to remove the OPP who are completely inept.  They make up rules and regulations as they go, arrest people who are only doing what patriotic people do and ignore or run away from real criminals.  It is time to bring in the RCMP to police this occupation and it is time to put an end to the occupation.  The level of lawlessness that has been afforded the occupiers is unprecedented except for Ipperwash.  Ipperwash is and will always be a big black mark on all levels of government.

I am bringing this to your attention as it is unlikely that Mr. McGuinty would see any fault in the actions of the police, however, you are the leader of this Country, Canada, which has its own Canadian Flag.  It is time to put a stop to terrorist activity in our Country.  It is time for governments to stand accountable.  It is time to raise one flag, the Canadian flag.  How can we ask our young men to die for a flag that other residents of Canada are arrested for trying to fly?

I have sent a copy of this email to Diane Finley with a request that she read the part in italics out in Parliament.  I want an answer, I want to know what the Canadian Parliament thinks about this.  I would like to have this concern brought before the Senate.  What would the Senate think about the flag being treated with such disrespect and the criminalization of the citizens who wanted to display the country's flag?
