(Cornwall, Ontario) On October 20th , 2006, at 6:00 p.m., police officers from the Central St. Lawrence Valley RCMP Detachment and the Ontario Provincial Police stopped a 1999 Cadillac on Second Street East in Cornwall, Ontario. Upon further investigation officers located and seized 594 grams of Marihuana some of which was located in two large re-sealable bags inside the vehicle and some of which was found on the driver and the two passengers. All occupants of the vehicle were arrested and will be charged with Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking under authority of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The driver is a 22 year old male resident of Prevost Point Road in Cornwall, Ontario. The passengers are a 23 year old male who resides on South Branch Road in Cornwall, Ontario and a 17 year old teen from Cornwall, Ontario.
On October 21st, 2006, at 4:30 p.m., police officers stopped a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu on Highway 138 in Bonville, Ontario. Upon further investigation officers located and seized 497 re-sealable bags of illegal cigarettes that were located inside the trunk of the vehicle. The RCMP seized the cigarettes and smuggling vehicle and arrested the driver and passenger. The driver, a 20 year old resident of Dunning Road in Sarsfield, Ontario will be charged under authority of the Excise Act 2001 for possession of tobacco that was not properly stamped. He will also be charged for Failing to Comply with a Probation Order under authority of the Criminal Code. The passenger, a 28 year old male resident of Larch Crescent in Orleans, Ontario will be charged for possession of tobacco that was not properly stamped under authority of the Excise Act 2001. The vehicle is registered to a 31 year old male resident of Alesther Avenue in Ottawa, Ontario.
The Central St. Lawrence Valley Regional Task force continues to disrupt the supply routes of organized crime groups whose sole purpose is to profit from crime. The public is reminded that organized crime steals money from the pockets of citizens and from the communities they live in.
