Caledonia homeowners track down McGuinty in Toronto

Summer recess not a vacation from ongoing land dispute: Barrett

Toronto—Two busloads of Caledonia homeowners went to Toronto today, to press the Ontario Government, both at the Premier’s Summit held at the Toronto Convention Centre, and at the Ontario Legislature.

“For the past 114 days, we’ve been imploring Premier McGuinty to come to Caledonia and Six Nations to hear the concerns of local residents,” Barrett said.  “He refused, so local residents resorted to Plan-B- they came to track down McGuinty.

During Question Period, Barrett raised their concerns directly with Premier McGuinty.

“You can have a backyard barbeque,” he told the Premier.  “These people are frightened to go into their own backyards.”

“Things are worse now than they were on February 28- not better,” Barrett said to Premier McGuinty.  “Why did you start talks when your very own conditions have not been met?”

“Premier McGuinty has to hear from the children and the families in these subdivisions,” Barrett said outside the Legislature.  “We must continue raising this after the Legislature rises for the summer.”
