17 Jun 2006 MEDIA RELEASE Hamilton Man Faces 12 Charges Following Shooting Allegation ( Caledonia, Ont. ) A 27 year old First Nations man from Hamilton faces 12 criminal charges after Haldimand OPP officers were informed of a man allegedly being shot at on Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. On The 17th of June, 2006, shortly before 2:30am, a resident of the Six Nations Territory alleged that he had been shot at and approached officers patrolling the area of Argyle St. A Dodge SUV, traveling north on Argyle St., was pointed out to the officers as the alleged suspect. Officers followed the vehicle, seeing it turn from Argyle St onto eastbound Haddington St. where it quickly sped away. Officers, using emergency lights and siren attempted to stop the fleeing vehicle, but the driver failed to comply. After driving through side streets of Caledonia at speeds exceeding the posted limit, the vehicle finally stopped in the driveway of a Buchanan Drive residence. The lone occupant was arrested and taken into custody. Found in the vehicle were two long guns and a quantity of ammunition for both as well as a quantity of alcohol. The man was also found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was taken to Cayuga OPP Detachment for the purpose of breath tests. Resulting readings showed that he was almost three times the legal limit. Johnathan Shane BEAVER (age 27) from Hamilton has been held for a bail hearing facing a total of 12 criminal charges that include: Flight From Police, Dangerous Driving, Impaired Driving, Being Over the Legal Limit, 4 Weapons Offences, Breaching a Court Order, and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. Further weapons charges relating to the alleged shooting are under investigation by Six Nations Police. The accused is not a subject in any on-going investigation related to the Douglas Creek Estates occupation. The investigation is continuing. Cst. Paula Wright Haldimand County OPP 905-772-3322 Saturday, June 17, 2006 Note: See how in one case mutiple charges can be laid when one person is involved - therefore, how many charges can be laid when a group of natives burn down a bridge, stop emergency vechicles and threaten firemen? So when we say there are 5000+ criminal charges that have not been laid by OPP, we feel the number can be easily supported. |
