OPP Apologize for arresting Caledonia Resident
Dec. 5, 2006 |
| Two OPP officers in full uniform visited the man, who was arrested on Saturday, three times.
Within a few hours of being released from the OPP, two officers showed up at the home of the resident at 5:30 pm on Saturday. The resident was not home so the OPP officers returned at 8:30 pm Saturday night. Again the resident was not home so the OPP returned Sunday morning at 9:30. The two officers handed over their business cards and told the resident that there would be no charges laid against him - surprise. However, the two officers then told the resident that they were sorry that he had been arrested in the first place and they regretted that the OPP tried to stop the raising of a Canadian Flag. I spoke with this resident by phone to get the details and also spoke to a witness that was present to hear what these two officers said. At the same time these officers were giving out their business cards, the OPP media was doing a Press Release calling the residents of Caledonia 'juvenile". I guess the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. More details to come. |
