A few days before the Dec. 16th Flag Raising Event Mayor Trainer was on the radio and was also being interviewed by newspapers. Once again the only reason the Mayor was being interviewed was because I was doing something that allowed her the opportunity to express her views.

She could have talked about how great the residents have been in controlling themselves since June or about how the Government could do more to help, but instead she restated her firm belief that the end of the world is coming everytime anyone speaks up in Caledonia.

The residents of Caledonia should be used to the fact that Mayor Trainer clearly doesn't have the ability to deal with Media, to stay on topic or to present a positive message about Caledonia.

I first found out that Mayor Trainer was publicly calling upon the OPP to arrest me when a reporter called me to get a response. On radio and to the newspapers Mayor Trainer had clearly stated she wanted the OPP to arrest me to stop me from putting up the Canadian Flag.

Mayor Trainer claims to have been a mayor for 12 years and I would think in that time she would have heard the idea that people in political office are NOT to instruct the police on how to do their job. You would think that in the last 10 months with McGuinty & Ramsay clearly saying that it is not legal for politicians to instruct the police that Mayor Trainer would get the idea that she too cannot instruct the police.

Maybe Mayor Trainer believes she is above the law. Maybe she just doesn't care what the law says.

For Mayor Trainer to speak out in public telling people that the OPP should arrest an individual is completely against our system of justice.

It appears Mayor Trainer doesn't understand our democratic process. In Canada and throughout the free world citizens have the Right to hold elected people accountable. Citizens have the Right to organize, to peaceful protest and to Free Political Expression.

However, elected people do not have the right to hold a citizen accountable, to organize a group against an individual or the right to interfere with any individual trying to hold a peaceful protest.

I have the right to gather a group of people in Caledonia to protest against the Government. The Mayor has no right to gather a group of people and protest at my home or organize a group to phone my home.

Democracy is The People holding Government accountable and The People expressing their will in their voting and their actions. Democracy isn't Government protesting at the home of individuals.

The whole purpose of a Constitution is to limit the powers of Government over the lives of it's citizens. To give Rights & Freedoms to the citizens.

Mayor Trainer has violated the fundamental concept of Democracy by attempting to organize the public to pressure me to end my Right to Free Expession.

This latest attempt by Mayor Trainer to use the OPP and the public to stop my Right to Free Expression is an attack on Democracy itself.
