March for Freedom - What are the benefits?
Oct 17, 2006 |
| My wife and I announced the March for Freedom on Sept. 8th with no backing from any organizations, no political party or unions behind us.
I remember the first public meeting we had which was held in Caledonia. That night I told people that over the next 13 months we were going to have elections at all levels of Government and that the fight to resolve the lawlessness in Caledonia would take the following elections to solve them. In other words, I never stated or lead anyone to believe that our political leaders would change overnight. What political party would want to be labeled as racist against Natives for the sake of one voting seat? When we started our web site back in mid-June the pro-Native side had won the media to their side. No matter what crime was being committed the media had to try to justify it by talking about land claims. I, for one, believe the lawlessness is seperate from land claims because we have many land claims throughout Canada were the Natives do not use criminal activities to get their way. |

OPP Two Tier Justice still here Gary, why?
|
| Maybe it is the fact that we live in the 21st century with instant everything that people are surprised that OPP Two Tier Justice still exists after Oct. 15. Maybe it is the fact that pro-Natives have nothing left to argue about other than to try to claim the March didn't accomplish a lot. But here is what was accomplished by two average citizens in Ontario in the past 5 weeks. |
| What has been accomplished before the March for Freedom: 1) Number one news story in Ontario 2) McGuinty forced to talk about Caledonia 3) OPP forced to do public meetings 4) Change Media from land claim story to Law & Order story 5) Ipperwash & Caledonia firmly linked Together 6) Create new phrases in Media - OPP Two Tier Justice and OPP Racial Profiling 7) New Hard Hitting Commissioner appointed - one that Natives tried to stop from being appointed. 8) Native Supporters dropping - Band voted against Protesters - lost $10,000 per month 9) Control Negotiations - they have to spend all their time talking about the March - no more giving Natives everthing they want. 10) Give the Residents of Caledonia something to do other than sit back and wait for big brother. Benefit from the March for Freedom: 1) Gave the Residents of Ipperwash & Caledonia a voice to share their heart felt views. 2) Demonstrated that a Peaceful March is possible - the people of Caledonia are peaceful. 3) Demonstrated that many in Caledonia supported the March and they want action not announcements. 4) Demonstrated that OPP does enforce Two Tier Justice when Natives were able to drive around in pickup trucks with people in the back zooming through a crowded area without the OPP stopping them. What a redneck thing for Natives to do. 5) Allowed the media to finally start talking about the Two Tier System - we have already seen additional news reports regarding cigarrette advertising and use of the phrase 'Two Tier'. 6) Build media contacts - We have numerous media email addresses, phone numbers, etc. 7) Build a grassroots movement - People from across Ontario and Canada are waking up. People are stepping up to help. See the following two links of work done by others. [link][link] 8) McGuinty announced Monday that the Natives would have to start paying for Hydro on DCE land. |
