The Public Speak out regarding Mr. West

Mr. West... I'm impressed that you have the character to apologize for slandering Gary McHale.

What doesn't impress me though is the fact that certain lawyers probably had a lot to do with the apology being expressed. Then again, maybe you did this out of the goodness of your heart upon having realized that you abused your blog to slander certain individuals?

What a joke.... but hey, thanks for helping water-down the word "racist" -- it's being thrown around so much, the term is rapidly becoming meaningless...

That was a legal retraction of your statement and only serves to protect CHML. What I don't understand is your on-going crusade against Mr. McHale. You don't have to like him.

But, you live in Caledonia. You witness daily the death throws of this town. After 18 months of Government mis-management, after 18 months of two tiered justice, how can you attack one of the few people who give a damn about your town? It's as if a wounded person is receiving CPR from Mr. McHale and you come along and hit him in the head with a 2X4! Are you receiving some sort of compensation, some collateral for trying to silence one of the few voices that is trying to end this nightmare? Why else would a man of your character stoop to the lowest form of communication, name calling. I am very disappointed in you.

As an on air personality you wield power with the public which you abused in a way that was not only extremely irresponsible, but spread a highly inflammatory and slanderous rumor about someone you don't know to the public.

If you want to make ammends you should start by explaining to us all how you came to conclude that Gary McHale was a "racist moron" and then decided it was appropriate to share this view with the public. You say that you're sorry but you fail to acknowledge what you really did Mr. West. You used your position as a broadcaster to publicly attack a private citizen for using his democratic right to hold public officials and public servants accountable for their actions and inactions. Not only did you attack him, you did so by labelling him a racist which you knew in our society is an extremely serious accusation.

Furthermore I would like to know what has caused your sudden change of heart? Why can we your audience now suddenly trust that you will be objective and fair?

There's no excuse for what you did and this apology does not undo the damage. You still have alot of explaining to do Mr. West.

I am so sick and tired of the racist card being pulled out every time a person disagrees with another person's opinion!

I now say: "I'm not a racist. I'm a locationist. I am located in Caledonia and I'm located on the side of democracy and the Rule of Law.
