Jamie West's (CHML) Apology Accepted |

On April 13, 2007 Mr. West on the CHML web site called me a 'Racist Moron'. Today he posted an apology for his statements against me. His apology states, "On April 13, 2007, in one of my blogs, I made a derogatory reference to Gary McHale of Richmond Hill, Ontario. I regret making this statement and I apologize to Mr. McHale for any embarrassment that he may have suffered as a result of the post. " Link It truly is a shame that Mr. West has refused to attend our public meetings to hear directly from me before making such a statement. It is truly a shame that Mr. West didn't have the journalisic ability to contact a person to hear his view before he posted his statement. |
If you disagree you are a racist? |
| What is hard to understand about Mr. West is that on April 27, 2006 he posted on his blog the following words, "I told Clyde Powless to tell his people to stop emailing me and calling me to tell me I'm a racist simply because I disagree with the tactics employed by the protestors over the last week." Link
The title of his post that day was "Can I disagree with you and not be deemed a racist". I would fully agree with Mr. West's expressed views here, but isn't it kind of hypocritical for Mr. West to want people not to call him racist simply because he had a differene of opinion while judging me as a racist for expressing the same views that he has in the past.? When Mr. West posted, "Every time I look at that blockade I become more angry. Angry at the law breaking tactic and angry that our political leaders let it get to that point. Let me be clear. That blockade is a DANGER to the citizens of Caledonia. Having worked as a paramedic, I can tell you that the native's promise to let ambulances and fire trucks through comes as hollow reassurance when seconds literally count to save lives" he saw that as an acceptable viewpoint. But when I point out the tha law breaking tactic used by Native Protesters is unacceptable suddenly Mr. West thinks I am a 'racist moron'. Mr. West further passes harsh judgement against political leaders for their numerous failures while singing the praises of residents like Steve Tong & Mark Watson. Both these gentlemen posted a harsh comment against Mr. West when he made his 'racist moron' statement about me. Link So let's get this straight. Mr. West, back in April 2006, months before I even heard of Caledonia, was publicly posting against the 'law breaking tacitcs' of the Native Protesters as well as posting against the elected politicians. Sounds just like what I have been doing. I wouldn't say Mr. West is a moron or a racist but he is a hypocrite. Too Bad Mr. West no longer speaks out regarding Caledonia. |
