OPP perform their job Impartially today |
| Jan 14, 2007
Today we held a Town Hall Meeting at the Lion's Hall in Caledonia. Before the meeting got started two OPP officers talked directly to me about the fact that the OPP would be outside to ensure public safety. I was informed that they would stop people who appeared to be entering that may cause trouble. Since I had rented the hall, it was up to me to request people to leave for any reason that I may have. If the person would not leave then the OPP would remove the person and charge them with trespassing. At the time I believed the OPP had stationed 3 officers outside for this but at the end of the meeting I found out that they had at least 38 officers stationed within feet of the Lion's Hall. Several Native and pro-Native people came out to the meeting and there were no problems, but I think the OPP wanted to ensure that anyone who may show up to create problems would see the Police presence and think twice about it. The Officer who spoke to me stated at the end that this protection was something they would provide for anyone in the same situation. This I agree with whole heartedly. The OPP demonstrated today that they can perform their duties impartially. It should not matter who has a meeting, if the OPP believed there could be problems then they take steps to ensure public safety. This is what impartial means. At no time did I feel I needed such protection, but all it takes is one nut from either side. |

Is the OPP sending a New Message to the Public
|
| Twice this week the OPP have lined up to protect non-Native people. First was on Wednesday to protect a land owner who had placed the Canadian Flag and No Tresprassing signs on his land and a Native person responded angrily. Now we have the OPP showing up at the Lion's Hall to protect residents at the meeting.
I requested OPP protection back in September at the Lion's Hall in Caledonia and Cayuga and in both cases no officers showed up. Is this a New approach by the OPP - we hope so. Fantino has asked what does the public expect from him. The answer is quite simple - make all your decisions without caring about the race of the people involved. Although people may see my site and my actions as being against the regular officer, I have no problem with regular officers, but I understand that my actions put pressure on the Brass to solve the problems. In response to these two examples of what appears to be a new approach I have removed the photos of individual officers off the front page of this site. |
