Globe & Mail Poll - Amazing how attitudes have changed

Feb 27, 2007

I cannot imagine that peace loving Canadians have overwhelmingly supported the idea of using force to remove the protesters from the DCE area.

A year ago a high percentage of Canadians, including my wife and I, would have supported Native Land Claims and would have completely agreed with protesters that they have had a bad deal from the Government over the years.

Although I and others would still agree that Natives have been abused by Governments in the past, I think most Canadians reject the idea that this gives them, or anyone the right to terrorize a town and to attack seniors and attempt to murder police officers.

If land claims are valid then Governments need to deal with them quickly, but clearly this claim on DCE is not valid. We have been told repeatedly by the Federal Government that it is not valid and even spineless McGuinty will not claim it is a legal claim - he is leaving it up to the Federal Government. Well, the Federal Government has spoken Mr. McGuinty, so why have you allowed the illegal occupation to continue and why do you allow the OPP to continue to do racial profiling in their effort to enforce Two Tier Justice?

Just when Mr. McGuinty will you make any decisions what -so-ever in regards to Caledonia?

By the way, Mr. McGuinty do you know where Caledonia is?
