Christine McHale's email to the Chief of Police in Brantford regarding our meeting Thursday night

Oct 6, 2006

Dear Sir,

My name is Christine McHale and I am the co-founder of the website www.CaledoniaWakeUpCall.com and www.MarchforFreedom.com.

My husband Gary and I were in Brantford this evening to speak to a gathering about the March For Freedom in Caledonia on Sunday, October 15. Four of your police officers were also at the gathering to make sure that peace prevailed. Although some native protestors did show up and heckled us, no trouble ensued and I would like to personally issue my thanks and the thanks of my husband for the protection offered by your police officers and for just being there.

They gave us a sense of security and also renewed both my faith and that of my husband in the fine work of police forces across Ontario. These four officers were extremely courteous and we were even escorted to the town limit to make sure we were not followed by anyone wishing to do us harm. In my opinion this is how it should be. We have the constitutional freedom of speach protected and also our person protected as was those of anyone at this gathering. Although we have had a major problem with the OPP in how the situation in Caledonia has been handled, we do not believe this is systemic throughout all police forces in Ontario.

We live in Richmond Hill and have nothing but praise for the fine work done by our own York Regional Police. Again, thank you and know that we respect and appreciate the Brantford Police Department.

Sincerely, Christine McHale
