Natives in Caledonia blocked CN Rail Again

June 29, 2006

P.W. tells us that Rail service in Caledonia was once again stopped by the Natives.

CN Rail confirmed today that Natives in Caledonia blocked CN Rail Thursday for several hours. This new blockade was in support of the planned Manitoba CN Rail blockade scheduled for Thursday.

CN Rail had applied for a court injuction against theThursday Manitoba blockade but the court did not have to decide on the matter since CN Rail and the Natives came to an agreement in Manitoba.

Natives in Caledonia closed down Caledonia Rail until about 5 p.m. yesterday by setting some debris on the tracks and damaged one of the signal boxes. This new criminal acts, of course, resulted in no charges being laid and is added to the long list of outstanding criminal acts done in the name of peace. In fact after numerous calls we could not verify whether a criminal investigation is being done into this matter.

It also demonstrates that although the Natives were paid off for removing the barricades in Caledonia they continue to commit criminal acts at will. It should also be noted Mr. McGuinty demanded the end of all barricades for future negoitations to continue.

While we are on the topic of CN Rail, we would like to point that the planned blockade in Manitoba was resolved by CN Rail agreeing to write a letter to Mr. Harper to bring a quick end to Indain land claims. Somehow CN Rail is responsible for land deals with Natives.

The Natives in Manitoba could choose to protest their local MP or the various goverment buildings just like all Canadians can - this would be peaceful and legal. However, the Natives choose a method that is not legal and a target that is not responsible for the problem.

So let's get this straight, the Natives pick a business, not government, to target a criminal act against. They then say to this business that on this particular day we are going to commit this crime against you unless you do something for us.

If this is the way it went down then isn't this extortion?
