Barrett & Peterson: Does 1 + 1 still equal 2?

Aug 30, 2006

When I was a kid we had two sayings that we used. First, if it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck and looks like a duck then it is a duck. This saying is much like the saying, "A rose by any other name is still a rose".

The second saying we had was "does 1 + 1 still equal 2"? All of these sayings point to the same thing. You can call something anything you want but logic tells us the truth.

Does 1 +1 = 2... well, someone in our family would also reply, "No, its 11". This is the art of spinning. This is where real pros in the political world can take something that is clear to anyone who looks at it and finds a way to spin it so the answer is no longer clear.

There have always been and always will be people who don't like the truth, don't want to believe or just cannot face what the truth would imply. These people want spin, they want someone who can take the evidence that is clear and muddy it.

Common Sense appears not to be needed when you listen to elected politicians.

Toby Barret vs. David Peterson
Now let's review how this applies to Toby Barret and David Peterson. Toby Barret told the public, "In my view, organized crime makes use of native communities, certain rights and privileges that residents of native communities have."

The fact that this view by Toby Barret is well documented in numerous RCMP reports and documents from Police departments throughout North America appears not to matter to some.

I am told that David Peterson was on a local radio station talking against any idea of the protesters somehow being back by organized crime or terrorism.

From what I heard, Peterson offered no proof to support his claim. He didn't explain how destroying the power station, digging up the road, blocking the railway, assaulting people and attempting to murder a police officer was untrue and not proof of terrorism.

USA ATF agents on Vacation in Caledonia
Back to the duck question - the quack and the walk.

Why were US ATF agents in Caledonia? Were they on vacation? Do ATF agents on vacation pick Caledonia, are accompanied by OPP officers, and bring along top secret documents with them while on vacation? Is it standard practice for ATF agents to carry the name & address of undercover agents while vacationing - maybe they have the list in case they want to visit someone while on vacation?

Since any logic tells us that the ATF agents were here on offical duty, with spy equipment, then let's put to rest any idea that they were not watching the protesters.

Were the ATF agents stationed to watch some unknown group smuggling items across the border or were they stationed watching the protesters.

Why would ATF agents be watching Ma & Pa protesters who just want land back?

Throwing logic out the window and believing everything your leaders are telling you without questioning - is that the Canadian way?

Why didn't the OPP tell the ATF agents that there was no need to watch Ma & Pa?

Why did the OPP help the ATF agents watch Ma & Pa?

RCMP Special Units in Caledonia
"The RCMP had more than 80 officers working at a native occupation in Caledonia, including elite troops from the biker enforcement unit, clandestine drug lab and national security teams... Specialized RCMP units represented by officers called up for duty in the area included criminal intelligence, drug trafficking, border and customs control, organized crime, passport fraud and proceeds of crime units." [Link]

Once again we are being told to forget about logic and common sense because these specially trained people were in Caledonia to perform their duties as trained. "The RCMP says its officers were there for manpower support at the request of the Ontario Provincial Police, and nothing should be read into the fact that many officers had special training in such areas as criminal intelligence, drug trafficking and border and customs control."

I guess these people were the officers assigned to get the coffee and donuts because we are told, "He stressed that the RCMP officers weren't near the centre of the action..."

What bugs me the most about this B.S. is that they believe Canadians will fall for it. There are four reasons why the RCMP spokesperson is full of it.

First, because the same RCMP lied to the media for months about the number of officers in Caledonia. If the media had not received the information via access to information request then we all would still be here being told only a few RCMP officers were in Caledonia. If you lie to me for months why should I believe you now.

Second, a second news report states, "In Ottawa, area cabinet minister, Diane Finley of Haldimand-Norfolk, was among federal officials briefed about the RCMP presence. She knew they were there in an observation capacity," said Finley's spokesperson, Colleen Cameron." [Link]

Why were the RCMP in Caleodnia - in an observation capacity. Quite a few officers doing a lot of observing don't you think. All this observation had nothing to do with their trained skills - Right, I got it and you also have land for sale in Florida.

Third, these RCMP officers were so busy observating that "Records show that throughout May, RCMP officers remained involved in intelligence work in Caledonia, including one officer who claimed on May 10 that he couldn't take a meal break because of "continuous surveillance performed."

Fourth, why is the OPP sharing intelligence about Ma & Pa in Caledonia to foreign Governments unless that Government needed to know about Ma & Pa?

"Paulson says the RCMP no longer have officers supporting the OPP in Caledonia, although Mounties doing intelligence are working across Ontario on various projects all the time. The OPP have always declined to talk about their own operations, but as late as June it is known they were still "intelligence sharing" with American officials, including the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. At least one ATF agent was in Caledonia during a June 9 melee when a vehicle was allegedly swarmed by native protesters. The agent from western New York was an expert in tobacco diversion and illegal firearms trafficking."

Do you believe Politicians Blindly, Politicians who never lie, right, or do you use your own Common Sense?
