As a resident of Caledonia, Ontario living on Thistlemoor Drive, I find it preposterous that my elected officials have the nerve to say such comments towards the creator of caledoniawakeupcall.com. These people, who should be representing the people and the thoughts of the people from the start, are completely out of line saying we (the citizens of Caledonia) do not want or need any help from anyone unless you're from Caledonia. As a resident who has been living through this hell for the past year, we have nothing left but hope our fellow Canadians to stand up for what they believe in. If our government, Federal, Provincial, and Municipal will not assist our community and seem to not care, I believe that it is an obligation of the people of Caledonia and the citizens of Canada to stand up for what they believe in, question our leaders, and practice our Rights and Freedoms.
We only wish that Gary and his family continue to run the caledoniawakeupcall.com website. This is a very important asset to the community and the nation. Information is key to keep people informed about the ongoing situation in this small town of Caledonia.

We stood up against the self government agreement in Westbank, BC. People just don't want to get involved. It seems like the work is always left to a few. Far too often, people live with rose colored glasses on, only seeing and dealing with what is important to them.
We have people on our street that have the nerve to say "The Indians haven't been that bad!" What a slap in the face. I believe in what you and you wife are fighting for, what happens is people just burn out. The system is rigged in the favor of the Indians and politicians. You both should be very proud of what you have stood up for. I just don't understand the people of Caledonia. They have someone like you willing to lead a good fight and organize them; they should hang their head in shame.
I for one, Thank you for all you have done for Canada.

Your fight is not just for Caledonia or even for Ipperwash. You are fighting for democracy in Canada. It is being stripped from us, one episode, one Province at a time. Your voice is needed – Now, at this time in Canadian history. I cannot speak for anyone but myself. You have the power to change the policy, to change history in this Country.
One day my grand child will read about the purpose and the power you have mustered, the sacrifices you have made, the pain you have suffered and the strength of your convictions and your belief that right will win.

I believe you still have support in this community. Everything you have done has allowed the issue to stay in the media and one everyone's mind.
I do believe that the community does have to start to take over some of the responsibility to move this issue forward.
The meeting on Sunday was very good start to this as it was made quite clear to the council that they are either going to support the citizens or they are going to fight us.
I found it hard to believe that our councillors were not even aware that they are named as defendants in the class action lawsuit.
We may be taking a breath right now but things will continue to move forward.

What I say may have little effect on your decision. You have done something that no other website pertaining to Caledonia has done. You have correlated a mass of information. Not only from around the area but across Canada. I was talking to my doctor about you and said “ I don’t know how he has managed to accumulate so much information”, and if it wasn’t for your website, most of us would be kept like mushrooms. (in the dark and fed shit).
You know you have the support of Toby Barrett and John Finley. I think you are asking to much to expect the mayor and the councillors to openly show support. They are staying neutral on many fronts. Right or wrong, I don’t know. The small town atmosphere dictates a cautious approach (your neighbor is related to your uncle’s aunt)
I read you website to find out what is real. The radio reports, newspaper reports etc.
Caledonia Wake Up Call is informative and up to date. I feel that shutting down this site would play into the hands of the people who want to silence us. Without you website we will be like Ipperwash, in that the rest of Ontario and Canada will have no idea what is going on. I believe your calling is that website.

I live near Kitchener, and not effected by the native uprisings, except for the car shooting we experienced after making a comment they didn't like. I do not go one day without going after a politician or newspaper about the Caledonia situation. If you and your wife throw in the towel "I don't blame you". The average Canadian has no testicular courage, and it bugs me the residents in Caledonia don't do more to support you. Did you realize that the Corus Network put a muzzle on Roy Green and West? They were afraid that the Indians would protest at their station location if Roy said something to "piss them off".
I don't think they were even allowed to mention your name on the air any longer. Roy loves people with courage "like yourself", but he could not say anything nice about you on his show. The best thing that can happen is that the natives block all major highways on June 29th, so that the rest of Canada will become educated on how the natives are capable of terrorist activities. I guess with the class action suit the residents feel that more money will help them forget the terrorists?

Gary & Mark: This is a copy of the email sent to Marie Trainer and Craig Grice. The direction this town is heading I can't believe people don't accept all the help they can get.
Don't want Gary McHale? I agree 100%. His meetings, well I'll tell you they are only informative. His website, hell we have the local paper besides why would we want to be informed of what is going on? His innocent marches to bring attention through the media of what the OPP and Government allows to happen in Canada. This guy is a joke? Lets find someone new. How about someone who really hates natives and cops. Someone who believes in an eye for an eye. Lets get some disorganized violence back like the pre Gary days. Someone who wants to barricade the roads and keep the natives out of Caledonia. What a great and dangerous summer this can be. Or maybe, just maybe Gary is an asset to us. He does allow avenues for people to vent. His marches do bring neighbours together for important issues. His website is the only means to get day to day facts of what is going on in my town. As a father the more information I can have the better I feel I can protect my family. Are we to stand aside and allow the cops and government to run my life and speak for me? Do we wait and hope for negotiations? The negotiations with terrorists that some and I don't really care about as the land is still occupied. Do I count on the OPP to protect me when one officer tells me to protect myself? Who will step forward? Do you want someone who believes in violence or do we accept Gary McHale?
Allow Gary to stand, if not step forward.
P.S. Gary's website is the best tool as I work across Toronto. As soon as I tell them where I live the questions start. It is amazing how little these people know about what is going on. Instead of talking for hours we usually head to the site trailer and go on the website. What other means can one use to get the word out. Oh ya, thank you for the money. I gave it to my children as payment from the government for protecting (the buffer between the railine and road - my home) the police. Unfortunately it worked out to less than minimum wage.

Hello;
I must ask that you now throw some support to Gary McHale and his website. Gary has kept us in the media spotlight for the past year, and has maintained a wonderful library of information for all to review and gain knowledge regarding the plight of our town. Why does council feel this is such a bad thing? Why do they constantly imply that he is up to something underhanded? To me, council should be embracing his interest in our town, and all of the media attention that goes along with it. I have not found one instance where Gary has lied or did not present facts as they occurred. This town needs the support of an outspoken individual like Gary, and I am truly disappointed at the narrow minded view of town council with respect to what I see as a "gimme" for the town.......he has been willing to help us tirelessly, and without monetary cost to council. Let's stop the negativity toward him. If we are waiting for someone in town to pick up the torch and create as much media attention as he has, it won't happen.......no one has been able to achieve this to the same degree as Gary.

I do not live in Caledonia, but nearby in Hamilton. It really sucks you are not getting the required support you need from within Caledonia. You are fighting for a cause that is important to many people, myself included. It's not just Caledonia as you say, and it's not just about land claims.
Natives get very special treatment in our society that is supposed adhere to equality for everyone, but here we have a small group of people in our country who get tax-free status and free post-secondary education, among many other perks, including the millions of dollars thrown at them each and every year by our governments.
The problem is that if people like you and I talk about these issues in public, we will be branded as racists. I am absolutely not a racist, I have several friends from different countries and cultures, but that would not stop someone from labelling me a racist because I believe in equality for all. I believe that is the main reason you are not getting the support you require.
I also have a suspicion as to why some people have not provided financial support. Some may believe the money is going to you personally, to increase your wealth. While I do not believe this to be the case, I think it would help your cause if you did something to make this more formal. I think you should start a non-profit business that can accept the donations and provide receipts. This organisation could work towards racial equality in Canada with a legitimate business backing.
Anyway, that's my two cents for now. I have been to your rallies in the past and will continue to attend them in the future. Good luck, and thank you.

I have read some of the threads on the chatrooms and I understand how you feel. My wife and I have supported all of your activities when possible (due to work I wasn't at the last flag raising). I attended the meeting on Sunday and the facilitator asked the question you are rising repeatedly to council and the mayor. They responded positively to the message that they should support us in everything that is done to get our messages out and end Two Tier Justice.
This included the rallies which you have so graciously organized. The families that live by me on Celtic Drive have been active in every rally and wish to convey nothing but our support and sincere wishes that you don't abandon the fight and help the citizens of Caledonia. We need to get our message out that this a Canadian problem. Everyone in this country is adversely affected by the Illegal Occupation of Douglas Creek, the rampant Two Tier Justice that is practiced by the OPP and the Terrorist Acts that some of the Natives have committed in our town. Thank you again for what you have done and please keep fighting with us.

I have been emailed by Gary McHale indicating that Caledoniawakeupcall.com website will be shut down until Haldimand council decides whether outside help is wanted.
As a resident of Caledonia, and a taxpayer, I don’t think it is your decision as to whether a person living outside of Caledonia jurisdiction should be able to assist “US, the resident’s of Caledonia” with the ON GOING LAND CLAIM ISSUE at the now defunct Douglas Creek Estate’s.
This so called re-claimation is NOT an issue exclusive to “CALEDONIA”, this is a CANADIAN ISSUE, that so happens to have landed in our backyards. With your kind of mindset, it might just end up being Caledonia’s problem.
As a Canadian citizen it is our constitutional right for freedom of speech, and Caledoniawakeupcall.com and its creator’s have provided more information then the Council of Haldimand, the Provincial and Federal Government has. They have provided, more support to the continuous occupation of DCE, then our own elected officials. This is one of our sources of information to the ongoing occupation of DCE. We all know that, very, very little information comes from local (Haldimand), Provincial or Federal governments.
Just this past Sunday, you were in attendance at the Meeting at the Remax-Centre at the Caledonia arena, and there was information disclosed there, that “CALEDONIA’S” were not aware of, “how the residence assistance package” came into existence. We were only privy to this information thru the organizer’s of that meeting, and then information was posted on Caledoniawakeupcall.com.
WHAT HAVE HALDIMAND COUNCIL DONE TO DATE TO END THE OCCUPATION OF DCE LANDS. COULD YOU PLEASE PROVIDE A DETAILED LIST OF WHAT HAS BEEN DONE SO FAR.?
I don’t know what you have done, nothing is posted about your accomplishments, and I more or less hear from Council, that your hands are tied. Why do you keep fighting US, instead of working with US, we are in this together, and all the help we can get the better.
For your information on Tuesday January 16, 2007 – Diane Woods, and Staff Sgt. Carter, were at a meeting to discuss the OPP policing and DCE occupation. The conversation at one point turned to the website: Caledoniawakeupcall.com, both parties mentioned above had indicated that site contained a lot of information. Sgt Carter stated that he encourages his new staff(for DCE) to go to the site to familiarize themselves with the occupation, as it contains a lot of pertinent information.
We as residents have lost so much with this occupation, and now YOU want to lose the support of an “OUTSIDER”, who in my opinion has done more than HALDIMAND COUNCIL. – MY VOTE IS NOT WITH YOU.

Just a short note to say that my husband and I are disappointed that you have decided for the time being to close the site. My husband and I have spent many hours going threw the information you have listed on the site and have found it to be very informative. Also, it was a way of know what is going on in our community. As you know, most of the people in Caledonia are kept in the dark about things.
We would like to say "thank you" for what you have done for Caledonia and wish both you and your wife a HAPPY EASTER.
