Diane Finley in Town Looking for Votes
|
![]() |
| After 6 months of being missing from action in Caledonia, Diane Finley suddenly decides to appear in Caledonia. She could be found, by appointment only, hidden at the local library protected by her RCMP body guards.
Prior to Diane Finley coming to town her office passed on a request through a 3rd party that we post no stories about her while she was in Caledonia. Why should she be so concerned about our website? Because she knows the residents read our site and Mrs. Finley was and is concerned of what would happen if we draw attention to her complete failure to represent the people who voted her into office. We agreed not to post stories about Mrs. Finley while she was in town to allow her the time to prove to the people that she cares for them and will act in such a way that shows she represents them. I think the people who met her will tell you she offered no support for the people of Caledonia, no words of encouragement, no plan to end the Native Crime Spree, no action to provide protection against the protesters. |

So why is Diane Finley in Town Now?
|
| She is not in town to support the people of Caledonia. She isn't in town to help resolve the issues or to provide details about what is going on in the Negotiations.
She is in Town to protect her seat in Parliament. She is in Caledonia because she suddenly needs the residents to see her so she can be the next MP for the area. We have been told by other Conservative MPs that Diane's nomination as the next Conservative MP for the area is coming up in early September. The following blog is tracking the nominations. [Link] The backroom deals are in play here. She needs the public to believe she represents them, that she cares, and that the public is willing to vote for her. The wheeler dealers in the Conservative party want her to be the next nominee for Haldimand-Norfolk. She doesn't have to be a good choice for the area but simply one the voters can be convinced to vote for. The residents who met with Mrs. Finley expressed how disappointed they were in her lack of addressing their concerns. She had no answers, no plan and no willingness to provide any help to the people of Caledonia. |

posted by Garth Turner on 07.11.06 @ 11:35 pm | Dear Doug: Now I understand you and I have not been the closest of political allies. In fact, during that last election campaign I hear you, the supreme commander, considered me to be a potential problem. Maybe you were right. I did not always seek, or gain, permission to speak my mind. I wrote my own election materials. I championed the middle class. But I won. You are a brilliant tactician. I am a populist demagogue. You are already plotting the next Conservative election win. I am a lowly backbencher – just an MP, and yet curiously proud of it. You are blessed by the party, and I probably am not. But it’s still my party, and I have been a Conservative my entire life – an MP twice, minister once, hell, even a national leadership contender. My parents were everything the grassroots of this party stands for – workers, donators, constituency organizers. My brother and sister both sought Progressive Conservative nominations. My brother was an advance tour guy for Bob Stanfield. I bummed a ride to And today I am an MP again. This time with an agenda steeped in conservative values but topped with two simple promises I made a few months ago, when you were on the airplane leading the troops. I told people I would work for them first, party second. And I said I’d do the right thing, as I saw it, every day. I hear you are planning things. So, I think you should return my call. |

If Mrs. Finley does get nominated we will do everything we can to either get her to finally start caring about the people in her riding or stop her from being re-elected. The choice is hers.
