Doug Finley Thumbs his Nose at the Residents of Caledonia - Aug 14, 2006

| In case you didn't know Doug Finley is Diane Finley's husband and one of those backroom boys you rarely hear about. He's the one who pulls the strings which turns people into political puppets.
We are not the only ones to think that Doug Finley is working behind the scenes controlling the politician, his wife, and the party. Read Garth Turner's post on Doug Finley. |

posted by Garth Turner on 07.11.06 @ 11:35 pm | Dear Doug: Now I understand you and I have not been the closest of political allies. In fact, during that last election campaign I hear you, the supreme commander, considered me to be a potential problem. Maybe you were right. I did not always seek, or gain, permission to speak my mind. I wrote my own election materials. I championed the middle class. But I won. You are a brilliant tactician. I am a populist demagogue. You are already plotting the next Conservative election win. I am a lowly backbencher – just an MP, and yet curiously proud of it. You are blessed by the party, and I probably am not. But it’s still my party, and I have been a Conservative my entire life – an MP twice, minister once, hell, even a national leadership contender. My parents were everything the grassroots of this party stands for – workers, donators, constituency organizers. My brother and sister both sought Progressive Conservative nominations. My brother was an advance tour guy for Bob Stanfield. I bummed a ride to And today I am an MP again. This time with an agenda steeped in conservative values but topped with two simple promises I made a few months ago, when you were on the airplane leading the troops. I told people I would work for them first, party second. And I said I’d do the right thing, as I saw it, every day. I hear you are planning things. So, I think you should return my call. |

| Doug Finley as 'Supreme Commander' ensured that his wife would be re-nominated for Hadimand & Norfolk riding. We are aware of two other people who were interested in running, but it appears no one knew that the nomination was open. The nomination closed this past Sunday night at midnight to the surprise of Conservative members in the area.
Although the riding claims all the rules where followed, we are not so sure. The fact that so few knew about the nomination is a tell tale sign that proper proceedure wasn't followed. Also, the fact we have received notifications from several people giving the closing date of Sept. 4, 2006 would also point to a very unclear message. It appears the riding decided to phone members and leave a message - a copy of what that message was is yet to be supplied to us to verify whether Conservatives really were told about the nomination. |

| One thing that is clear, both Diane and her husband knew about the timing of the Nomination. She was in town all week after being missing for five months.
As Garth Turner found out, Doug is always 'plotting the next Conservative election win' even if that doesn't help the people in the riding. You see Doug Finley is a party man - people are second. Who cares whether the people in the riding feel they have not been served by Diane Finley. Who cares whether there is lawlessness and families and children live in fear. Who cares whether people are assaulted and property is damaged. Us poor stupid people don't understand the greater picture of a majority Conservative win. We don't understand just how important it is to Canada to save it from the Liberals. Just think a majority Conservative win could bring... well... more MPs that will not speak up against lawlessness. Doug Finley has his nomination win - the party insiders score another one against the average person. But the average person can still send a powerful message to the Conservatives, to Diane and to all the backroom Doug Finleys out there that enough is enough. You want our Vote - Earn it! |
